On the morning of December 16th, Zhoushan Changhong International delivered the 2,500 TEU container vessel "Zhonggu Guangzhou," built for Shanghai Zhonggu Logistics, with a signing ceremony. The ship measures 179.90 meters in overall length, 176.85 meters between perpendiculars, with a moulded breadth of 32.18 meters, a moulded depth of 16.00 meters, and a design draft of 9.50 meters. It marks Changhong International's first foray into container vessel construction.
The ceremony was hosted by Ma Weidong, Deputy General Manager of Changhong International, with speeches delivered by Li Jijun, Executive Deputy General Manager, and a representative from Zhonggu Logistics' Ship Management Center. Li Jijun extended a warm welcome to all attendees on behalf of Changhong International, expressing gratitude to colleagues for their exceptional dedication and wishing the "Zhonggu Guangzhou" smooth sailing and full cargo holds in its future operations. Cui Lianjun from Zhonggu Logistics highlighted that the vessel's construction represented the first newbuilding collaboration between Shanghai Zhonggu Logistics and Changhong International, emphasizing how Changhong's shipbuilders ensured timely completion through hard work and ingenuity. He noted that this delivery marks a new chapter in bilateral cooperation and expressed hope for deeper collaboration moving forward.
Since securing the order in March 2016, the project progressed through key milestones: the entire hull was placed on the slipway on May 28th, launched on October 15th, and completed sea trials on November 28th. Facing high expectations from the shipowner, Changhong's shipbuilders overcame significant challenges, demonstrating a proactive and results-driven ethos. Throughout the project, the team strengthened communication with the shipowner and classification society, proactively addressing issues such as engine piping corrosion and missing drawings identified during construction at Wuzhou Shipyard. They promptly resolved on-site feedback from the shipowner and surveyors, ensuring the vessel was delivered on schedule.
